Information for Parents
Any learner who displays symptoms of COVID-19 (see the NHS website) will have been sent home immediately and advised to have a test. Any learners who have had a test should not attend school until they have received a negative test result.
The following information provides an overview of the actions we take should we be alerted to a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Step 1: The academy will invoke our approved procedure for dealing with outbreaks. In line with this, the academy will immediately inform the local Health Protection Team. We will work with the team to carry out a rapid risk assessment and identify appropriate next steps. We will inform the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) of the local Health Protection Team advice.
Step 2: The academy will notify Dudley Academies Trust’s Chief Executive and Compliance & Safeguarding Officer so that they can offer support.
Step 3: With the Health Protection Team advice, close contacts of the symptomatic individual will be identified, and contact tracers will inform them that they need to self-isolate for 10 days. These learners will be sent home immediately and their parents/carers informed. Should those learners develop symptoms, they should get a test. If the test is positive, they should inform their academy.
Step 4: We will report to the Education Team, Dudley Council any learner or member of staff who has been in the academy and tests positive for COVID-19 and any action(s) taken to send home learner/staff bubble or year groups. We will also report all learners or members of staff who need to self-isolate as a result of this positive test result.
Step 5: For learners who are isolating, remote access to learning will be ensured.
Step 6: On the advice of the Health Protection Team, a letter may be issued to parents, carers and staff if needed.
