Dudley Academies Trust has officially launched a partnership with the University of Birmingham, bringing colleagues from across its schools together for a programme of action research focused on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and inclusion.
The partnership is the University of Birmingham’s first collaboration of its kind in the UK, with action research projects dedicated to strengthening inclusive practice and improving outcomes for all learners.
Through Communities of Practice, colleagues will work together across school phases and settings to explore, develop and enhance inclusive approaches. The projects will use evidence-informed research to connect shared learning with practice in schools.
The Trust thanks Graeme Dobson, Professor in the School of Education, Penny Hannant, Assistant Professor Inclusion Lead and Dawn England, Associate Professor School of Education for their expertise, support and commitment to the programme.
Karen Potter, Director of Teacher Development, said: “This partnership is an exciting opportunity to build on the inclusive practice already taking place across our schools. By bringing colleagues together to share experience and explore research, we aim to turn professional learning into practical approaches that help every learner feel included, supported and ready to succeed.”
By bringing university expertise and collaboration across schools together, the partnership aims to support staff in developing inclusive practice that makes a positive difference for learners.
