Introduction to CareerFit

HomeAbout UsOur LearningCareers & ProgressionIntroduction to CareerFit

Getting fit for a rewarding career

At Dudley Academies Trust, we believe that if our learners are ‘Dreaming Big’ about what they want to do in life, they will work harder, achieve more and be happier.

We will provide a comprehensive, planned programme of careers education, advice and guidance for all learners in Years 7-11. We will do this in partnership with the local authority and other organisations including our sponsor, Dudley College of Technology. We are committed to ensuring that our learners leave the Academy with high aspirations, the knowledge to make informed and realistic decisions, and the character attributes needed to succeed in life.

Our aim is that all learners will experience the following:

  • A wide range of career based activities every year
  • High quality, impartial careers advice and guidance
  • Workplace visits, work shadowing and virtual work experience with leading businesses such as Thomas Dudley Ltd
  • Taking part in business events
  • Entering competitions such as the Peter Jones Tycoon programme
  • Outside speakers from business and industry
  • Interview practice
  • Taster courses at local colleges
  • Visits to universities.

As well as a wide range of events throughout the year, including careers events, enrichment days, visiting speakers, business breakfasts, off site visits, CV building and mock interviews, we offer an appointment system for discussions, advice and help regarding career pathways in the Careers Hub. Our Careers and Learning Journey Map is an overview of how learners develop their career pathway during their time at the academy.

By the end of Year 11, our learners will be equipped to understand and take advantage of the opportunities ahead of them. Whether they choose A levels, T Levels, Apprenticeships or college courses, learners will leave us with a clear idea of their career pathway and the knowledge and experience that will help them to get there.

Quality in Careers Standard

All four of our secondary schools have received Ixion’s Gold Standard Award for The Quality in Careers Standard. The Quality in Careers Standard is the national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in schools, colleges and work-based learning.
