West Midlands Mayor sees our Careers programme in action

Today, West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, came to see Year 7 Learners from The Link Academy, Netherton, touring Thomas Dudley Ltd, one of the highlights of the careers programme that runs across all Dudley Academies Trust schools.

The learners were the last of over 1,100 from the Trust who have toured Thomas Dudley’s factory this year, thanks to the generosity of Martin Dudley, Chairman and CEO of the Thomas Dudley Group, and the hard work of the staff who make these tours interesting and informative for the young people.

Andy, Martin and Jo Higgins, Trust Chief Executive,  discussed the importance of helping young people to understand the world of work and the possibilities for themselves.

The aim of our Employability Visits is to provide our learners with access to real-life experiences from the labour market. Employability skills are the essential skills, personal qualities and values that enable individuals to be able to thrive in the workplace.
